Pool Deck Patching & Sealing in Jacksonville, FL
Pool Deck Patching & Sealing in Jacksonville, FL
Project Overview
Residential Concrete completed a concrete patching, pressure washing, and full sealing project for a homeowner in Jacksonville, FL. The pool deck had developed surface spalling and delamination in several areas, and the adjacent screened porch floor was heavily stained and unprotected. Both surfaces were repaired, cleaned, and sealed in a single visit.
The Problem
- Multiple areas of surface spalling and delamination on the pool deck — the top layer of concrete had broken away in irregular patches, exposing rough aggregate beneath
- Significant flaking along the pool coping edge, leaving an uneven and potentially hazardous walking surface
- General staining, discoloration, and fading across the full deck from years of sun and poolside moisture exposure
- The screened porch floor had lost all sealer protection, leaving it heavily stained and difficult to clean
Our Process : Pool Deck Sealing
- Inspected the full pool deck perimeter and porch floor to identify all spalled, delaminated, and deteriorated areas before beginning any work
- Repaired all spalling with a concrete patching compound, feathering the edges to blend flush with the surrounding surface — proper edge blending prevents water from undercutting the patch and causing it to re-delaminate under foot traffic
- Pressure washed the entire pool deck and porch floor to remove dirt, algae, and surface contaminants; clean, open concrete is essential for sealer adhesion and long-term performance
- Allowed all surfaces to dry completely before beginning sealer application — moisture trapped beneath a sealer coat can cause adhesion failure, cloudiness, or premature peeling
- Applied painter's tape along all wall bases, enclosure frames, and perimeter edges to protect surrounding surfaces during application
- Rolled ICT ColorSeal onto the open pool deck in sections, maintaining a wet edge throughout to prevent lap marks and ensure uniform color
- Rolled ICT ColorSeal onto the screened porch floor edge to edge, achieving a consistent finish across the full interior surface
- Allowed full cure time before removing tape and returning both surfaces to use
Materials Used
- ICT ColorSeal — [variant and colorway — confirm] — applied to pool deck and screened porch floor
- Concrete patching compound — used for spalling and delamination repairs on the pool deck
- Painter's tape — used for perimeter masking on both surfaces
Results
- Pool deck and porch floor now have a clean, uniform sealed finish with consistent color across both areas
- Patched spalling zones are flush with the surrounding concrete and sealed over, restoring a safe, smooth walking surface around the pool
- ICT ColorSeal provides UV resistance and moisture protection, slowing future fading and surface degradation
- The screened porch floor was transformed from a stained, worn surface to a fresh sealed finish that ties the entire outdoor space together
